Mt. Washington Children’s Center was organized in 1972 to meet the needs of working parents.

It has continued to grow ever since.

In 1972, the preschool program began and was then followed by the addition of infant and toddler care in 1981.  By 1987, Mt. Washington Children’s Center found its permanent home in a new building to house all of our programs under one roof.  We established a collaboration with the Head Start Program in 2002 to offer our children even more opportunities to grow.  Currently we are affiliated with Pre-K Counts and Keystone Stars.

Philosophy

The Center provides a setting to foster each child’s individual growth and development.  There is a growing awareness that early childhood education is a critical need in our times.  When a child in his or her earliest years is exposed to many and varied experiences, healthy social contacts, and skillful guidance, he/she will most likely enjoy the most desirable kind of overall growth.  Such early growth will have a positive, profound impact upon his/her life.  Mt. Washington Children’s Center is prepared to work hand in hand with home in order to ensure that important beginning.

Vision

Our vision is that someday every child will be respected for what they have to contribute, as we envision every child as a valuable and lovable asset of our world.

Goal

To have each child appreciated for his or her uniqueness.
